I can't say enough good things about the service and how accommodating they were, especially with my last-minute requests. The most important thing I took away form my experience was that I felt comfortable letting the most precious thing in my life out of my site with 3 different girls I had never met before. I talked with the owner of the company, Vanessa, and she assured me that the girls are top notch and exactly what you'd want in a sitter. She was right. I highly recommend their service.

I can't say enough good things about Kitty. Last night she really came through for Maggie while Colin and I were out. Maggie didn't save a school report she's been working on at the computer, and it was due the next morning. After trying to find it, it was lost. Kitty talked to Maggie, and they worked out that Maggie had some handwritten notes at school. At about 7 pm, they went up to Maggie's school and got them, came home and Maggie typed the report. I think Maggie's exhausted, but she was in a better mood this morning thanks to Kitty.

Melissa is a superstar! We just loved her and felt so bad because this was a tough trip and the weather did not cooperate! Also, Jake was up a lot. He had several nights where he woke in the middle of the night and at 5 am, so it was tough on Melissa. She was a trooper and never complained, and she allowed me to get some sleep for my dinners and lunches. She even started taking him on her morning jogs! Thank you for hooking her up with us. You have a wonderful service, and we really appreciate the addition of your company and sitters in our family.

I have been working with Sensible Sitters for over a year now, and in that short time I have had the opportunity to form close relationships with the families that I have met. Being a college student in New York City, an often anonymous place, I really appreciate the familial connections that have formed. Summer experiences further strengthened my relationships, as I spent time every week with one family in upstate New York. I also had the opportunity to go to Spain, and those two weeks really solidified my relationship with the family, as well as opened my eyes to a part of the world I otherwise would not have experienced. Working with Sensible Sitters has significantly enhanced my college experience as well as my experience in Manhattan, and I am grateful for such opportunity and enthusiastic to continue my work with Sensible Sitters' families.

I went with an amazing family and cared for a 9-month old boy. We stayed at the Westin La Poloma Resort and Spa. It was an amazing experience. I got to be a hands-on nanny and help in everyway that I could. To be able to travel with a family and stay in an amazing resort was very exciting. When you go away with a family, you have a lot more responsibilities than just watching the children – I prepared bottles, packed the day bag, kept the child area clean and tidy, and seeing the parents at ease and able to relax made me realize that my job was " a job well done." It's definitely hard work, but it is rewarding and feels good knowing that I helped make a differnce in the family's overall vacationing experience, and that's what I was there to do!

Imagine a vacation where you, as a parent, could truly relax. A vacation where the stress of worrying whether or not the sitter that the hotel provided is competent to watch your children is relieved by instead having someone that you know well. Bringing a sitter on vacation with your family not only means relaxation for you, but also for your child. The anxiety of a new face or the apprehension of trying to forge a temporary relationship with a stranger is alleviated by a familiar face, someone who has come to be more than a sitter, but also a part of your extended family. This is the way that I have felt every time I have traveled with a family. I am not from around this area, and my family is very important to me. Through Sensible Sitters, I have been blessed in meeting tremendously wonderful families and building very special relationships with each child I care for. These families no longer see me as only a babysitter, but they care for me and I always feel as if they treat me as part of their larger family; the bond between myself and the families has become significantly stronger. From the Hamptons to the Caribbean, the extra time with these families has only further solidified the connection I feel to these children. It is truly rewarding to experience a day from start to finish with a child that I may only normally see for a few hours a week. Traveling makes babysitting feel like less of a work obligation and more like a family commitment and my attachment for these children has become so strong that I feel more and more like a big sister, and less and less like a babysitter.
